Ajahn James Morrison – The Road from the Monastery – September 15, 2024

Summary: Over the past two years Ajahn James has been on a journey of transformation, navigating the radical changes experienced while transitioning from the life of a contemplative monk to entering mainstream Western society. Ajahn James will discuss the challenges, pleasures and lessons experienced along the way. 

Biography: Ajahn James Morrison was a Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest Tradition. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Eastern Religious studies from Carleton College, he lived in Thailand undergoing intensive training in meditation.  Living a life of austere simplicity, he practiced and trained with many of the most famous Buddhist masters of our era. During his time as a monk, James founded monasteries, wrote numerous books and articles, translated teachings and lectured internationally. Now based at Kings Creek Redwood Hermitage in California, Ajahn James is no longer a monk, but he continues to share his experience and teachings.
