Introduction to Meditation, Lisa Ebert
In a world where where we’re encouraged to multi-task, plan our lives to
the minute, and are surrounded by music, media, and images almost
everywhere we go, why should we sit in silence and meditate?
The Introduction to Meditation class is for anyone wishing to learn about
meditation and how to meditate, as well as for experienced meditators
interested in refreshing their understanding and experience of meditation
practice. The class will include an overview of the purpose and value
of meditation practice, guided meditation instruction, sitting and walking
meditation practice, and group discussion.
Following the talk, there will be a time for tea and conversation.
Everyone is welcome at all NBMC events. Our policy is not to charge a specific amount for our classes. We invite participants who wish to make a donation to do so in whatever amount they feel is appropriate.
Lisa Ebert lives and works in Northfield, where she serves as Practice
Advisor at the Northfield Buddhist Meditation Center. She practices and
studies within the Theravadan Buddhist or Vipassana/Insight meditation
tradition, and is currently a participant in the Integrated Study and
Practice Program at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. She received
her M.Div. and S.T.M. degrees from Yale University. Previously, she has
led congregations in the United Church of Christ, served as a college
chaplain, and taught college and graduate courses in Christian Theology
and Religion and Science.
