Day Long Meditation Retreat

with Mark Nunberg
Saturday, November 21, 2009; 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Focusing on Sangha, we can reflect on recognizing and strengthening the beautiful qualities of heart in ourselves and others.

Retreating from the distractions of daily life is an essential part of the path of awakening and the development of tranquility and insight. Please join us for this important opportunity to deepen mindfulness.

We will practice opening to the moment with stillness and non-judging awareness. This retreat will include sitting and walking meditation, guided movement, talks on spiritual practice, and time for questions and discussion. The specific theme for this retreat will focus on strengthening the beautiful qualities for ourselves and others. Please bring a bag lunch and plan to stay for the whole day.

Mark Nunberg, one of the supporting teachers at Northfield Buddhist Meditation Center, began Buddhist mindfulness practice in 1982 and has been teaching meditation since 1990. He co-founded Common Ground Meditation Center in Minneapolis in 1993 and continues to serve as the Center’s Guiding Teacher. Mark has studied with both Asian and Western teachers and finds deep inspiration in the teachings of Ajahn Sumedho, Ajahn Chah and the Thai Forest Tradition. Mark has also practiced as a monk for five months in Burma and completed four three-month retreats at IMS Retreat Center as well as many months of practice at The Forest Refuge also at IMS. Mark continues to be a devoted student of Buddhist practice.
