April NBMC Focus – Socially Engaged Buddhism

Throughout the month of April, series of talks and classes at the Northfield Buddhist Meditation Center will discuss the topic of Socially Engaged Buddhism.

On Sunday, April 5 at 9:45 a.m., Patrice Clark-Koelsch will give a talk on “The Evolution of Socially Engaged Buddhism: A Brief Overview from the Buddha to Contemporary Protests by Burmese Monks.” At time of sitting meditation will precede the talk at 9:00 a.m., with orientation for newcomers at 8:30 a.m. Tea and conversation will follow the talk.

For three Mondays in April, Koelsch will also lead a class and discussion on “Socially Engaged Buddhism: Expunging the Toxins of Greed, Aversion, and Delusion from Our Hearts to the Edges of the World.”
